This book, written to coincide with the return of Spectacular Times to print (via our 14 volume boxset), celebrates Larry’s life and work through newly commissioned essays, never-before-seen photographs, and vivid testimony from those who knew him. Nearly four decades after Larry’s untimely death in 1988, Spectacular Times remains unsuperseded. This volume explores Larry and the scene in which he existed to recover a world of radical print culture, community-building, and the stubborn conviction that another life is possible. Paradise now!
The collection includes:
- An essay about British ‘situationism’, anarchism in the 1980s and Spectacular Times’s role within this.
- A dialogue between Clive and Kim about their political involvement with Larry, and the wider Reading anarchist movement.
- Larry’s partner Liz writes about alternative Reading in the 1980s.
- We also have thoughts on Spectacular Times from Professor Ruth Kinna, Ramsey Kanaan and Tom Vague, among others.
